The city of Como, overlooking the southern end of the lake and borders with Switzerland. It is a city rich in history and culture. Many stately homes and historical mansions overlook the lake, towards Villa Olmo. Its cathedral Santa Maria Assunta is one of the largest in northern Italy of Gotic Style. Masterpieces are the many "palazzi rationalisti" by the architect Giuseppe Terragni. But the city, owes its fame mainly for the lake and its beautiful landscapes.
